At the AHH Foundation LBG, we take pride in implementing impactful projects that align with our mission of environmental conservation, biodiversity protection, and community empowerment. Over the years, we have successfully executed several initiatives focused on restoring degraded ecosystems, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and protecting endangered wildlife. Below are some of the notable projects we have undertaken:
New Improved Variety Cocoa Nursery Development and Agroforestry Systems Resource and Training Project
Supported by the King Baudouin Foundation and Efico Fund in Belgium, this project, also known as the "Nursing Future Forests Initiative", was implemented in the Odomi River Range, Akpafu, Ghana. It focused on developing nurseries for improved cocoa varieties and integrating them into agroforestry systems. The initiative aimed to empower local farmers with knowledge and resources to adopt sustainable farming practices, enhance food security, and contribute to reforestation efforts. This project not only improved the livelihoods of farmers but also promoted biodiversity conservation and climate resilience in the region by combining cocoa cultivation with tree planting.
Integrated Community Biodiversity Conservation, Training & Awareness to Protect Safe Habitats for Chimpanzees and Monkeys of the Togo Plateau Range
This project, supported by the Rufford Small Grants Program (UK), focused on conserving the unique biodiversity of the Togo Plateau Range, particularly the habitats of chimpanzees and monkeys. The initiative involved community-based biodiversity training and awareness campaigns, which aimed to reduce human-wildlife conflicts and promote coexistence. The project fostered a deeper understanding of the importance of protecting endangered species and their ecosystems by engaging local communities in conservation efforts.
Other Key Initiatives
In addition to these flagship projects, the AHH Foundation has led various programs to reforest degraded landscapes, mitigate climate change impacts, and support sustainable livelihoods. These include:
Promoting agroforestry systems that integrate crops like cocoa, plantains, and yams with tree species such as teak, mango, and coconut.
Organized community workshops and training sessions to educate farmers on climate adaptation and sustainable practices.
Campaigns to raise awareness of wildlife protection and biodiversity conservation.
Through these and other initiatives, the AHH Foundation has made significant contributions to environmental sustainability and community development. We remain committed to expanding our impact by partnering with like-minded organizations and stakeholders to drive meaningful, long-term change.
